The American Begonia Society (ABS) is a 501(c)(3) plant society with members across the world. In 2019 ABS began work to move to a new website with a goal of being an accessible international resource. Our RFP focused on web design firms experienced in working with nonprofits. Ask the Egghead responded to the RFP with detailed information and specs which answered our questions and also provided a quote within budget. Since the collaboration with Egghead began, Egghead has effectively worked with ABS to capture our mission and goals for the website, including the design which allows ABS to provide extensive content in an organized and intuitive way. We welcomed Egghead’s many design and compliance recommendations, guiding us through the process. Egghead and ABS implemented the work early in the pandemic. Egghead was patient working through our committee and Board approval processes. Importantly, Egghead provided training to the Website Committee (as specified in the RFP), so that ABS could independently implement a range of website tasks. As the committee becomes more involved with and familiar with the software, Egghead continues to provide training so that ABS can implement new website tasks. In advance of virtual meetings with Egghead, the committee provides an organized and specific outline of website and training needs, and we work through the list with Egghead during the meeting. This process has been very beneficial and recorded meetings allow us to refer to the processes at a later time. Following the launch of the website, ABS engaged Egghead with a subscription service which includes maintenance and a specified number of changes/month. This has also been useful and successful.
