Greetings Divi community! Summer is almost over! Depending on where you’re located on this globe, this is either very sad or very exciting. Now that we are rounding out August, has business begun to pick up yet? Those summer business lulls are no joke. Or did you have a super busy summer? Between vacations, homebound kids, and hotter weather community building takes extra effort. But the extra effort is no problem for those of us who love our communities and the construction of them. Let’s Welcome Our New Meetup Groups
Please give a warm welcome to our new hosts! August brought us three more Meetup groups, and we’re thrilled to introduce you to the hosts.
See below for introductions (in the host’s own words) and info on their next Meetups.
Divi Seattle, Washington, USA
Meet the host, Bradon Garley:
I’m a Frontend Web Developer on the Design team for a large legal solutions company in Bellevue, WA. Prior to moving to Seattle, I ran a small design agency in Albuquerque, NM where I managed the marketing and development needs for SMBs with a focus on web design and development. I have a wide variety of skills including email marketing, interactive ads, mobile applications, analytics, web development, and even AR.
I’ve been a Divi power user since 2015 and use it to develop most of my client’s sites. Divi’s responsive settings and global modules are my absolute favorite time savers.Divi has changed my life by allowing me to run my own business while saving time, and delivering better websites. I want to return the favor and spread the knowledge I’ve gained over the years.
Their first event is in a few days! This Wednesday, September 4th. Be sure to join the group if you’re in the Seattle area!
Divi Cairo, Egypt
Meet the host, Mohammad Sobhy:
Front End Developer (NanoDegree from google and Udacity and now in scholarship with Pluralsight as the Africa scholarship)
I got lifetime membership with elegant themes and affiliate program
I love to design by Divi and developing more modules of Divi
And need to learn more and more about Divi by working in teams
[Divi] is [a] great product, here a lot of people do not [use] Divi. I wish to make a market here [and tutorials] in Arabic I can do it with some people will fall in love with Divi and create wonderful designs and modules as I am planning by showing the product to them. [I want to] create a channel on youtube in Arabic tutorials.
They just got up and running. Be on the lookout for their first event! We’re excited for Egypt!
Divi Owerri, Nigeria
Meet the host, Hillary Goodness:
I am a Creative Designer, web dev, an open-source advocate for the WordPress community.
I have been making use of Divi since the past 3 years, and I love working /designing with Divi.
As I work with Divi, I see a strong reason to introduce and build a community of Divi enthusiast in my local community every day.Divi has been a great tool for me in my designing career and has been in the WordPress environment for a while. I found out that a lot of people makes use of Divi, but few among them find it difficult to use effectively in my community. so I thought of a better way to bring this Divi user together as a local community, through and by being a Divi Lead.
This group is brand new and just got their go-ahead. Check them out!
Updates from Existing Groups
Once our organizers are approved to lead their local Divi meetups, the community building begins. It’s not just scheduling meetings and booking guest presenters. It’s pouring into the humans that make up your community. Its cultivating inclusivity to all. It’s that pure moment of connecting with your attendees that helps your community grow. Of course, passion for your content goes a very long way too!
Check out the monthly happenings of some of our communities below!
Divi Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
From the Host, Andrew Cantor:
We had a great Meet Up this past Tuesday night. There were six of us. We discussed plugins, templates and general workings of the DIVI theme.
Our group was diverse in the levels of Divi usage but overall the discussions were well thought out and very useful for all.
We are all excited about having our next DIVI meeting next month.
The Bucks County crew are back at it and very excited! Be sure to join!
Divi Columbus, Ohio, USA
From the Host, Nathan B. Weller:
Divi Columbus is two events in and going strong. For our second meetup, we learned how to take advantage of Divi’s design and workflow efficiency features in a hands-on workshop. Next month we’ve got our first guest speaker in Josh Hall who will be discussing how he built a successful Divi design business. Can’t wait!
The Columbus community is full of great content! You don’t want to miss out!
Divi Gulfport, Mississippi, USA
From the Host, Suzi Wilson:
We had our first Divi Meetup last week. It was a terrific turnout for our area and we are hoping to build it. We went over the new features and did a basic discussion for people new to Divi.
Are you in the Gulport area? They’d love to have your presence. Check the group out!
Divi London, Ontario, Canada
From the Host, Heather Peel:
We… are exploring Divi and what we can do with it. [It’s] geared to a more beginner level (Divi 101). More experienced Divi users [are welcome] attend and share their expertise. We [are] tackle more in-depth topics in later meetups.
Do you reside in the London, Ontario area? Get plugged in with this great Divi meetup!
Divi Mexico City, Mexico
From the Host, Michel Jimenez:
We had our first Divi Meetup in Mexico City and it was just great! We didn’t expect so many members, and it was fantastic to meet so many people in Mexico City working on WordPress and trying to learn more about the Elegant Themes solutions.
The topic we talked about it [were] the different kind of builders for WordPress: which of them work nice on the backend, and which of them are great on the frontend. We introduced Divi to WordPress users and exchange some experiences when developing websites on this content manager.
We had such a great time and we’ll be digging deeper into Divi on our next meet!
The Mexico City attendees have so much enthusiasm. Be sure to join and catch it!
Divi Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
From the Host, Kimberly Huges:
What can’t you do with Divi?” That was one of the questions we were asked at the end of our August Divi meetup. We all laughed at that because it was pretty clear after our 1.5-hour open format/Q&A session Divi can do just about anything. The summer Divi promo was going on at the time, so we made sure to mention it to our new members.
The Milwaukee crew will love your presence if you’re in the area!
Divi Phoenix, Arizona, USA
From the Host, Raquel Landefeld:
We’ve made some amazing connections at our two meetups this month! I’m blown away by the talented people we’ve met here in our community! It’s wonderful to hear the stories of individuals who run a Divi agency full time! Next month we will continue with our in-depth learning and with two meetups per month still!
The Phoenix community is super active! Be sure to join!
Divi Valencia, Spain
From the Host, Celine de Castro:
We now have 53 members and growing.
The last meeting was about introducing Divi, benefits of WordPress and how to choose the right host.
Next meeting is on September 16 at 7 pm. Special guest speaker is Marc Beneteau, owner or WPAcademy. He will be presenting via video conference: How to Use Divi Layout Packs to achieve professional-looking websites even if you are a novice/amateur.
